Sources

Every data point on Hantavirus Live is linked to its originating source. This page lists all sources used by the aggregation pipeline, organised by tier. For an explanation of how tiers work, see the methodology page.

Tier 1 — Supranational authorities

These sources carry the highest weight. When they conflict with lower-tier sources, their figures take precedence.

Surveillance data, annual epidemiological reports, threat assessments, and outbreak updates for the EU/EEA.

World Health Organization (WHO)

Tier 2 — National authorities

National-level agencies that publish case data, risk assessments, and clinical guidance for their jurisdiction.

U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
NNDSS surveillance data, Health Alert Network advisories, clinician briefs, and situation summaries.
cdc.gov — Hantavirus ↗
Robert Koch Institute (RKI) — Germany

rki.de ↗
Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI) — Germany

fli.de ↗
UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA)

Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)

paho.org ↗

Additional national agencies will be added as the data pipeline expands to cover more countries.

Tier 3 — Media signals

News reports are tracked as early-warning signals that a new official publication may be forthcoming. They are never used as case data and are displayed separately from official figures on the map.

GDELT Project
Global media monitoring. Used to detect emerging news coverage that may precede official publications.
